Gloucester is located near the end of Cape Ann on the North Shore coastline. The city has countless activies for the whole family or for a night out on the town. There are far too many local restaurants and businesses to list but if you'd like to take a look at some peer reviews Yelp has them here.

The city was first chartered in 1623 by a group from Dorchester, England though it was quickly thereafter abandoned in 1626. In 1642 the colony began a new near the Annisquam River and officially donned the name of Gloucester. Though Gloucester is known for its shipbuilding and fishing industries these didn't begin in earnest until 1713. Yet from that time onward the industries fueled Gloucester forward into the city it is today. If you'd like to learn more about the history of Gloucester and Cape Ann in general the Cape Ann Museum has wonderful resources for you to explore.

Gloucester has it's own school system for grades K-12. There are 5 grade schools including Beeman Memorial, East Gloucester, Plum Cove, Veterans' Memorial, and West Parish. Once through grade school, everyone attends O'Maley Middle School and then Gloucester High School.
